- Site / campus
- Operator and facility name as it appears on the permit.
- Location
- County and state or region. Municipality if the supply is municipal.
- Watershed / aquifer
- Named basin or aquifer the supply is drawn from.
- Cooling method
- Evaporative tower, chilled water, air-cooled, closed loop, direct-to-chip.
- Supply type
- Potable municipal, reclaimed non-potable, groundwater, surface water.
- Withdrawal (annual)
- Volume taken. State the unit and the reporting year.
- Consumption (annual)
- Volume not returned. Do not substitute withdrawal here.
- Drought status
- Official classification for the basin at the reporting date.
- Community dispute
- Permit challenge, moratorium, council decision — with the record cited.
- Source document
- Publisher, title, date. No entry is complete without this field.
Why this folder is empty
Site-level water claims circulate widely and are frequently wrong, out of date, or mixing withdrawal with consumption. This archive will not carry a site entry that cannot name its document. The template below is the standard the archive holds itself to.
How to file an entry
One field at a time, each with publisher and date: county or utility filings, water district records, environmental permits, operator sustainability reports, or local reporting that itself cites a document. If a field cannot be sourced, it is left marked UNSOURCED rather than estimated.
Standing question
Are the largest AI campuses disproportionately located in water-stressed basins, or does that impression come from a small number of heavily reported cases? This cannot be answered from anecdotes; it needs a systematic list.
