Pin — 'As in the Days of Noah'

Matthew 24:37-39

The most-used and most-overstated bridge between Genesis 6 and an end-times Nephilim return.

SCRIPTURESPECULATIVEDISPUTED

What the verse says

Matthew 24:37-39: as the days of Noah were, so shall the coming of the Son of Man be — for in the days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark, and knew not until the flood came and took them all away.

What the verse does not say

It does not mention Nephilim, giants, sons of God, or hybrids. The stated comparison is ordinary life continuing, unaware, until judgment arrives.

The interpretive leap

The modern argument runs: the days of Noah included Nephilim, therefore 'as in the days of Noah' implies their return. That inference is supplied by the reader, not the text — and 'marrying and giving in marriage' is read by some as pointing to Genesis 6 unions, which is itself a contested reading.

Status

SPECULATIVE CONNECTION, clearly labelled. It may be a compelling thought; it is not what the verse states.
