NP-3335Folder 05 — Could They Still Be Here?
The Second Incursion Theory
That a second, post-Flood descent of heavenly beings produced the Anakim and Rephaim independently of the pre-Flood event.
INTERPRETATIONSPECULATIVE
The theory
'And also afterward' in Genesis 6:4 signals a repeat event after the Flood — which would explain why giant clans appear in Canaan without requiring anyone to survive the Flood.
In its favour
It takes the 'afterward' clause seriously, matches the Numbers and Deuteronomy material, and requires no exception to the Flood's totality.
Against it
Scripture never narrates a second descent. The whole theory rests on inference from two words. If such an event happened, the silence of the text about it is remarkable.
Status
A recognised interpretation among supernatural-worldview readers; speculative beyond the two-word foothold.
