Jude 6 and Jude 14-15

A New Testament letter quotes Enoch by name — the most important canonical link to the Watchers tradition, and the most frequently overstated.

Jude 6: angels 'which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.' Jude 14-15 then quotes a prophecy attributed to 'Enoch, the seventh from Adam' — matching 1 Enoch 1:9 closely.
What it establishes
That Enochic material was known and used in first-century Jewish and Christian circles, and that Jude assumed his readers recognised it. 2 Peter 2:4 uses similar imprisonment language for sinning angels.
What it does not establish
Quoting a text is not canonising it — Paul quotes Greek poets without endorsing their theology. Jude does not mention Nephilim, giants, or hybrid offspring. Whether Jude 6's 'left their own habitation' refers to Genesis 6 is a reading many scholars hold and others contest.
