A fragmentary Aramaic work found at Qumran that names the giants and gives them dreams of coming judgment.
What survives
Fragments from several Qumran caves preserve a narrative in which the giants — including figures named Ohyah and Hahyah, and a giant named Gilgamesh — receive ominous dreams and send Mahaway to Enoch for interpretation. The answer is destruction.
Why it counts as archaeology too
These are physically excavated manuscripts with an archaeological context, not later copies of uncertain provenance. A version of the work was also later transmitted in Manichaean circles along the Silk Road.
Significance
It shows the Watchers narrative was not one fringe book but a developed literary tradition in Second Temple Judaism — with a Mesopotamian hero appearing inside it.
