Chapter 01 — Field Briefing

The Prophecy

What the text actually says, before anyone interprets it.

This is where it all starts. Revelation, Daniel, Matthew 24, Luke 21, 2 Thessalonians, Isaiah, Ezekiel and Zechariah are the source texts everything else in this project gets checked against. Read these passages first — the modern-day material only matters if it actually connects back to something written here.

Chapter contents — 14 files

Fourteen files, beginning with the biblical texts themselves. Each one separates what the text says from context, observation, interpretive connection, competing interpretation, and what the accessible record does not cover. No modern person, system or nation is identified as a fulfilment in this chapter.

NOT PUBLICLY ESTABLISHED ≠ DISPROVED · POSSIBLE ≠ PROVEN · UNKNOWN is a valid result.

Exploratory threads. Each stays open until the investigation records a result, and each links back to the file it was opened from.

Directed Energy Weapons / Fire From Heaven

Revelation 13:13 describes fire called down from heaven in front of witnesses. Fielded laser and high-power microwave systems produce visible directed effects. This thread tracks what is documented, what is untraced, and where the accessible record stops.

Key question
Does any documented capability correspond to a publicly staged sign, and what would distinguish correspondence from a shared vocabulary?
Documented
Ship- and vehicle-mounted laser systems, counter-drone high-power microwave systems, and published power-scaling programmes appear in defence testing and procurement records.
Outside the accessible record
Orbital platforms and any non-public capability. Weapons development is heavily classified, so the accessible record is a floor rather than a ceiling. Claims about orbital strike systems have not been traced here to a primary source; they are logged as untraced.
Competing interpretation
An objection holds that atmospheric propagation and power-delivery constraints bound what is achievable at long range. That objection is testable against published physics and should be recorded with its numbers rather than asserted.
Would strengthen
Declassified programme documents, procurement records, or independently observed effects with published technical analysis.
Would weaken
Published propagation and power figures showing the claimed effect is unachievable at the claimed scale.

AI & The Speaking Image

Revelation 13:15 describes an image given breath that speaks and enforces. Conversational systems, voice cloning and synthetic video make a speaking image technically ordinary. This thread separates capability from referent.

Key question
Does the text require agency, or only the appearance of life — and does automated enforcement change the answer?
Documented
Real-time conversational models, voice cloning from short samples, synthetic video, and agentic systems taking actions without step-by-step instruction.
Outside the accessible record
Internal capabilities, training data and evaluation results of frontier systems are described mainly by the organisations that build them. No inaccessible information is required to establish the public capability described above; whether further relevant capability exists outside the accessible record is UNKNOWN.
Competing interpretation
One reading holds that a statistical generator cannot be what the passage describes; another holds that deliberate illusion is consistent with 'lying wonders'. Both are recorded as readings.
Would strengthen
Documented delegation of enforcement authority to an autonomous system by a state or institution, with the instrument published.
Would weaken
A textual case that the passage's language requires something categorically unlike any engineered system.
Thread — opened from Main Story 01INVESTIGATING

Digital Identity / Buying & Selling

Revelation 13:16-17 conditions commerce on an identifying mark, name or number. Population-scale digital identity and programmable payment infrastructure is documented and expanding. This thread tracks capability and governance separately.

Key question
Does the passage require a physical mark, or an identifying status by any means — and who decides the exceptions in a deployed system?
Documented
National biometric ID programmes, digital wallets, verifiable-credential standards, and central bank digital currency pilots, with published specifications.
Outside the accessible record
Deployment agreements, data-sharing terms and exclusion handling are frequently not published even where the technical specification is. What obligations exist in non-public agreements is UNKNOWN.
Competing interpretation
An objection holds that the passage requires compelled worship, which no documented system involves. A counter-argument holds that infrastructure precedes any use made of it. Both are recorded as arguments.
Would strengthen
A documented case in which access to commerce is conditioned on a belief-based or allegiance-based status.
Would weaken
Enforceable, durable legal guarantees of non-discrimination and of usable alternatives to the system.

Global Livestreaming / Every Eye

Revelation 11:9 has many nations observing one location across three and a half days. Continuous global broadcast makes that mechanically ordinary for the first time in the text's transmission history.

Key question
Is a shift from mechanically impossible to mechanically ordinary evidentially meaningful, or incidental to the era doing the reading?
Documented
Global satellite and internet distribution, live streaming from nearly any location, and near-universal camera ownership.
Outside the accessible record
No inaccessible information is required to establish the documented capability described here. Whether additional relevant information exists outside the accessible record is UNKNOWN. The unresolved part of this thread is interpretive: how much weight capability should carry.
Competing interpretation
A figurative reading holds that the verse denotes representative witnesses present in the city and requires no broadcast at all.
Would strengthen
A textual argument that the verse requires simultaneity, tested against how the same construction is used elsewhere in the corpus.
Would weaken
A demonstration that the same construction elsewhere clearly denotes representative rather than simultaneous observation.

Euphrates & Kings From the East

Revelation 16:12 dries a river to open a route. Measured decline in Euphrates flow is documented, with dams, extraction and drought discussed as causes.

Key question
Would a gradual, human-caused decline satisfy a text describing a poured vial and a drying?
Documented
Published hydrological measurements, upstream dam construction, and multi-year regional drought.
Outside the accessible record
Reservoir levels and extraction figures are politically sensitive and contested between riparian states; independent basin-wide figures are not consistently available.
Competing interpretation
An objection holds that engineered decline shares only the word 'dried' with the passage. A counter-argument holds the text describes an effect, not a mechanism.
Would strengthen
Independent basin-wide measurement not produced by an interested government, showing flows outside long-term variability.
Would weaken
Measurements showing recorded low flows fall within long-term historical variability.

Temple / Jerusalem

Revelation 11, Daniel 9, Matthew 24:15, 2 Thessalonians 2 and Zechariah 12 converge on a temple and a contested city. Traditions divide sharply on whether a physical structure is required.

Key question
Do these passages require a future physical temple, or are figurative and already-fulfilled readings equally available?
Documented
The destruction of the second temple in AD 70; publicly documented preparation of vessels, garments and priestly training by Jerusalem organisations.
Outside the accessible record
Excavation on the Temple Mount is effectively unavailable under current agreements. Absence of physical evidence here reflects restricted access rather than a completed search.
Competing interpretation
Futurist, preterist and amillennial readings are each long-standing and internally coherent. The archive records the disagreement rather than adjudicating it.
Would strengthen
Formal, documented steps toward construction or toward resumption of sacrifice.
Would weaken
A textual case that the passages were satisfied in the first century, tested against the same verses.

Red Heifer

Numbers 19 sets qualification requirements for a red heifer whose ashes are used for ritual purification. Modern breeding and certification efforts are documented and disputed among authorities.

Key question
What does the text actually require, who is competent to certify it, and who is making the current claims?
Documented
Numbers 19:2; the existence of organisations pursuing qualification, and their public statements and photographs.
Outside the accessible record
Rabbinic qualification is disputed among authorities, and the inspection process is not independently observable from the accessible record.
Competing interpretation
Some authorities dispute the candidates on halakhic grounds; the organisations involved dispute those objections. Both positions are recorded as positions.
Would strengthen
Certification by recognised authorities with the halakhic reasoning published in full.
Would weaken
Published, reasoned rejection by recognised authorities that the organisations do not answer.
Thread — opened from Main Story 01OPEN QUESTION

666 / Gematria

Revelation 13:18 attaches a number to a man and invites counting. Gematria and isopsephy are attested ancient practices, and the verse presumes the audience could perform the calculation.

Key question
Is there a method constraint that makes a particular calculation more than arithmetic — and what would that constraint look like?
Documented
Ancient letter-value practice in Hebrew and Greek sources; the variant reading 616 in some manuscripts, including P115; the widely discussed Nero Caesar calculation, which several scholars note also accounts for the 616 variant.
Outside the accessible record
Whether the original audience had a specific referent in view, and whether they were expected to identify it, is not established by the accessible record.
Competing interpretation
COMPETING INTERPRETATION — A common objection is that the method is loose enough to fit almost any name. That is a fair worry, and it is also checkable: fix the transliteration and letter values in advance, run them across a set list of names, and see how often 666 or 616 comes out. Nobody has published that run here, so both the objection and the Nero reading are still open.
Would strengthen
A calculation constrained by attested first-century convention and declared before the candidate name is chosen.
Would weaken
A published run of the test above showing the same declared method yields comparable hits across arbitrary names.
