Sabbaths, New Moons and Sacred Rhythm

Underneath the feasts is a repeating rhythm: the seventh day, the new moon, the sabbatical year, the jubilee. Biblical time is structured rather than flat.
The weekly cycle
The Sabbath is grounded in creation (Genesis 2:2-3) and in the Decalogue (Exodus 20:8-11). Notably, the seven-day week is the one biblical time unit that has never been broken by any calendar reform in this quest — including 1582, which removed dates but not weekdays.
The monthly cycle
New moons are marked with trumpets and offerings (Numbers 10:10; 28:11-15). 'He appointed the moon for seasons' (Psalm 104:19) uses mo'adim again. Isaiah 66:23 projects new moon and sabbath forward into the age to come.
The long cycles
Sabbatical years every seventh year and the jubilee every fiftieth (Leviticus 25) extend the same pattern to land and debt. Time in Scripture is not merely measured; it is periodically released.
